Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon

From time to time, it's very important to do absolutely nothing.

Last Sunday, my boyfriend and I embraced the tradition of doing as little as possible on everyone's favourite day of the week. There were no deadlines, no plans, and no obligations. I used to waste a lot of time feeling guilty for having days like this, but I've come to realise that unwinding helps me feel more enthusiastic about conquering my to-do list later on, and actually makes me more productive in the end.

So I started my day by putting makeup on while watching everyone's latest uploads on YouTube, which is one of my favourite things to do, especially when I'm not in a rush and can take my time deciding which eyeshadow palette I want to play with.

Before leaving the house, I threw my DSLR in my bag for the first time in a long time. Usually I just take my smaller compact camera out and about, but I've recently been getting a bit annoyed with it's limitations and how much it's slowing down with age, so my trusty Canon 700D came with me instead.

We drove to The Rope & Anchor in Altrincham for food. I always worry that I won't get enough potatoes with my Sunday lunch, but these guys didn't disappoint - I got crispy roasts and buttery mash with my turkey, served on a plate that was bigger than my face. Eating out is another one of my favourite activities, as I love food but know nothing about cooking.

My boyfriend even managed to get a decent photograph of me! Any blogger will tell you that it's very difficult to get nice pictures of yourself, so the fact that Tom knows how to use a DSLR is a huge bonus.

Then we drove home, sat on the sofa with a cup of tea, and didn't move for the rest of the evening. We watched the new episode of Rick and Morty, then Arrival, then were still in an Amy Adams mood so put on Enchanted. I love watching films and television but don't always give it my full attention; usually it's on in the background while I'm doing something else.

Even Tom's cat enjoyed watching Arrival with us.

When was the last time you did nothing? I highly recommend making time for it if you live a hectic lifestyle.
